Afro-tourism takes center stage at the 37th Festuris, which broadens horizons with Espaço Diversidade

Gramado International Tourism Fair opens space for Afro-Brazilian culture and new possibilities for inclusive tourism

The 37th Festuris – Gramado International Tourism Fair, one of the most important events in the sector in Latin America, arrives at its new edition with an even more plural and transformative proposal. One of the novelties this year is the expansion of the LGBT+ Space, which now embraces new forms of inclusive tourism, such as Afrotourism, and is being recognized as the Diversity Space.

With the strengthening of initiatives to promote Afro-Brazilian culture and the growing interest in authentic and socially responsible experiences, Afrotourism is gaining strategic visibility on the national and international scene. Festuris 2025 is following this global trend by opening space for debates, business connections, and experiences that celebrate black ancestry and the protagonism of Afro-entrepreneurs.

“We are experiencing a new moment in tourism. Diversity is an issue that deserves attention, and for tourism, it is a real opportunity for economic development, innovation, and social justice. The Diversity Space has been created to reflect this change,” says Eduardo Zorzanello, CEO of Festuris.

Afro-tourism: tourism with identity and purpose

Afro-tourism is a trend that moves and connects visitors to the roots of Afro culture, promoting immersive experiences that include historical itineraries, cultural events, experiences in quilombola communities, religiosity, gastronomy, and black entrepreneurship.

The theme's presence at Festuris comes at a time when the segment is growing stronger. In partnership with UNESCO, the Ministry of Tourism is conducting a national mapping of Afrotourism, which aims to gather information on routes, destinations, products, and events led by Afro-entrepreneurs. The initiative is part of the Black Routes Program, which aims to promote the sustainable development of Black communities through tourism.

The growth of the sector, driven by movements such as Black Lives Matter and increased social awareness among travelers, makes Afro-tourism a powerful tool for cultural appreciation, empowerment, and income generation for black communities.

DIVERSITY SPACE – Expanding the LGBT+ Space for Diversity represents a significant advance in the way tourism is presented and discussed at Festuris. The space will be dedicated to promoting inclusive actions that represent the different identities and possibilities for action in the sector, including Afro-tourism, LGBTQIA+ tourism, indigenous tourism, accessible tourism, among others.

“Tourism is a reflection of society, and society is diverse. Festuris understands this and offers a space where all voices can be heard and respected, promoting innovation and inclusion in a genuine way,” emphasizes Zorzanello.
