In Uruguay, Festuris formalizes invitation to the government of Maldonado

Festuris CEOs Eduardo Zorzanello and Marta Rossi, and Gramado Deputy Mayor Luia Barbacovi, met with Mayor Miguel Abella

The international launch of the 37th Festuris, held in Uruguay on October 2, included a visit to the office of the mayor of the Department of Maldonado, Miguel Abella. In Uruguay, a Department has a status similar to that of a state in Brazil.

During the meeting, Festuris CEOs Marta Rossi and Eduardo Zorzanello, and Gramado Deputy Mayor Luia Barbacovi spoke about Gramado and Festuris. The deputy mayor liked some of the initiatives carried out in Maldonado and emphasized the intention to promote a rapprochement with the city, which has been a sister city of Gramado since 1993, when the letter of intent was signed.

The general director of the tourism department, Edgar Silveira, commented that the meeting was a great opportunity to strengthen the bond of sisterhood, and pointed out that there is much to learn from Gramado's tourism actions. “Maldonado is focused on sustainable tourism, and this exchange with a city and government like Gramado, which has been on this path for a long time, is very valuable,” he said.

Marta and Eduardo formally invited Maldonado to attend this year's Festuris. “Festuris has global connections, and it is essential that Maldonado, as a tourist destination, be part of this global exchange to promote its potential,” said Eduardo.

Regarding Maldonado's participation in the trade show, Miguel Abella said that it is part of the promotional strategy defined for this first year of administration. The mayor took office two months ago. The Department of Maldonado consists of eight cities: Maldonado, Aiguá, Garzón, Pan de Azúcar, Piriápolis, Punta del Este, San Carlos, and Solís Grande.
