One of the most symbolic projects of Festuris – Gramado International Tourism Fair, the Tree of Integration celebrates 10 years of history in 2025 with a special tribute to Costa Rica. The Central American country is the guest of honor, planting roots in the history of the event, which reaches its 37th edition this year and takes place from November 6 to 9, at Serra Park, in Gramado (RS).
Created in 2015, the project aims to highlight destinations and companies committed to sustainable tourism. The initiative was inspired by the Ibero-American Forum of Tourism Journalists and has since promoted the planting of 15 araucaria seedlings - the symbolic tree of southern Brazil - around the fair center where the event takes place.
The araucaria is a native species, protected by environmental law and considered a symbol of resistance and longevity. With a life expectancy of up to 400 years, its planting during Festuris represents a tribute and a gesture of commitment to environmental preservation, in addition to strengthening more responsible and sustainable tourism.
In 2025, the honored destination will be Costa Rica, in recognition of its remarkable performance in sustainable policies. The country is a global reference for initiatives aimed at protecting biodiversity, clean energy, community inclusion, and good ESG (environmental, social, and governance) practices.
During the ceremony, representatives from the country will participate in planting a new araucaria seedling, sealing their presence in the project and perpetuating Costa Rica's name on the international sustainability scene.
“The Tree of Integration Trophy celebrates a decade of commitment to the environment. Honoring Costa Rica at this milestone is to recognize a model of sustainable management that inspires the world,” says Eduardo Zorzanello, CEO of Festuris.
