Brigada Militar debuts at Festuris and strengthens integration between security and tourism

The initiative aims to bring public security closer to the tourism sector — segments that go hand in hand and help make the municipality one of the safest destinatio

The Brigada Militar made its debut as an exhibitor at the Festuris - Festival Internacional de Gramado during its 37th edition. The initiative aims to bring public security closer to the tourism sector — segments that go hand in hand and help make the municipality one of the safest destinations in Brazil.

“We had a meeting with Eduardo and Marta where we presented the idea, which we even drew from Paraná, which attended the Madrid Fair with a panel, because today, much more than infrastructure in a destination, we need security. They understood that it was timely and that we should have this space for the Brigada Militar through the Tourism Battalion,” explains Major Claudia Maldaner, Chief of Staff of the Regional Military Police Command (CRPO-Hortênsias).

Maldaner also led a mentoring session during Festuris. “Precisely to address the issue of hospitality, because when visitors come to a region, if they have contact with a security agency, that will also influence what they say afterward. We are a showcase in many aspects, and security is one of the defining factors of quality of life,” she points out.

The major highlights that it has been a positive experience. “Public security is not achieved only through institutional agencies, but with the entire community. The press plays an important role, as do tour guides, who see many things, and hotel receptionists who may have a certain perception. This proximity helps transform the destination into a welcoming place,” she adds.

At the booth, a special attraction took place on Friday afternoon: two police dogs from the Brigada Militar’s K-9 Unit in Porto Alegre were present. “It was a success. We have the K-9 unit and the mounted unit, and we chose to bring the dogs to promote the institutional image of the Brigada Militar. They are detection dogs, and it was also an opportunity for the tourism trade to connect with us,” she concludes.
